Drivers heading to East Midlands Airport on the M1 are facing long delays due to traffic queueing for the Touring Car Championship event.
National Highways officials are warning drivers to face delays in the area.
Traffic monitoring site Inrix is reporting: "Queueing traffic due to Touring Car Championship on A453 Westbound at Donington Park.
National Highways tweeted there are long delays on the on the A453 southbound between the A6 and M1 J23A due to an event taking place at Donnington Park. Please plan ahead and allow for extra travel time."
The Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship kicks off in the spring on the National circuit. A spokesperson for the event said: "This will be the first time you can see the class of 2023 in race action at the wheel of a range of track-prepared saloon cars."
