LIV Golf rebel Thomas Pieters claims he was "lonely" playing on the PGA Tour, in response to backlash he has received for joining the controversial series.
The 31-year-old from Belgium, who made his name by winning six events on the DP World Tour, would have been an almost certain pick for Europe's Ryder Cup team to play in Rome this September, having previously played in the 2016 tournament.
However, his decision to join Greg Norman's series has placed his spot in jeopardy amid the ongoing war between PGA Tour and LIV Golf members. Pieters says he was persuaded to join the rebel circuit after 'lonely' trips to play on the American-based PGA Tour.
