The Little Ringling Bridge, a vital connection between Lido Key and Longboat Key to Sarasota, has reported 'some damage' following the impact of Hurricane Milton. Sandra Tapfumaneyi, the chief of emergency management at Sarasota County Emergency Services, confirmed the situation.

Tapfumaneyi mentioned that efforts are underway to assess the damage and reach out to residents who stayed behind during the storm. It was estimated that at least a couple of hundred individuals remained on Longboat Key during the hurricane.

Regarding Siesta Key, Tapfumaneyi highlighted that the area faced significant flooding due to storm surge. However, she mentioned that the water levels are gradually receding, providing some relief to the affected residents.

Despite the challenges, Tapfumaneyi expressed gratitude that the storm surge did not reach the initially predicted levels. The recorded surge of seven to eight feet, though lower than expected, still surpassed the impact of Hurricane Helene, which struck the region just two weeks prior.

The community is now focused on recovery efforts and ensuring the safety and well-being of all residents affected by Hurricane Milton. Emergency services continue to monitor the situation closely and provide assistance where needed.
