NEW DELHI: Little-known Malaysia seamer Syazrul Idrus created history on Wednesday by becoming the first male cricketer to take seven wickets in a T20 International. His astonishing figures of 7 for 8 helped Malaysia secure a commanding eight-wicket victory over China in the opening game of the T20 World Cup Asia B Qualifier at Bayuemas Oval.
The 32-year-old Syazrul Idrus, who had previously played in 22 T20Is, delivered an outstanding performance, breaking the previous record held by Nigerian Peter Aho for the best bowling figures in a men's T20I. Aho's record of 6 for 5 was surpassed by Idrus' impressive haul (7/8), all of which were bowled dismissals.
