A father who murdered his five-week-old baby daughter rang 999 after she suffered from a “catastrophic” brain injury following a series of assaults.
On Monday (16 March), Sean Jefferson, 35, of Birch Court, Walsall, was found guilty of murdering Darcy-Leigh Jefferson, as well as two counts of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.
The trial heard Darcy, who was born five-weeks premature on February 20 2022, had been “physically assaulted on a repeated basis” and had a total of 47 rib fractures when she died on March 27 that year.
Audio shared by Staffordshire Police features Sean calling 999 and telling them he “needs an ambulance quick. My baby has stopped breathing”.
Darcy’s mother Amy Clark, 34, was also found guilty of causing or allowing the death of a child and two counts of causing or allowing serious harm to a child.
Both will be sentenced at a later fixed date.
