Lisburn's OKTO Technologies creates 80 jobs on soaring demand for smart buildings

Lisburn building technology company OKTO Technologies is creating 80 jobs after winning a raft of new contracts.

The company, which installs high end building management software to control lighting, heating, security, audio visual and IT systems, has a number of roles ranging from software developers to project managers to solution architects.

It said the expansion is part of a plan to grow the company by some 300% over the next year and comes after it won deals worth over £25 million with the residential and hospitality sectors.

One of those is the installation of a range of technology in to the development of high end apartments in Bayswater in London. That development will see the transformation of The Whiteley, one of the city’s oldest department stores, into a luxury residential development.

While based in Lisburn, OKTO has a base in Dublin and in Londonwhere it recently carried out at the Peninsula Hotel and Residences on London’s Hyde Park Corner.

“We’ve earned a reputation for excellence because of our drive to go beyond accepted boundaries. On top of that, our team and our technologies are trusted by some of the world’s top property developers who regard us as industry pioneers,” Philip Dowds, managing director of OKTO Technologies, said. “This equates to fast-track career opportunities for those who want to drive change and take the development of smart building and wellness technologies to the next level.”

Philip Dowds founded the business in 1992 and said demand for smart buildings has been growing ever since.

“Never before has the need for smart building technologies been so prevalent,” he said. “As a future-focused organisation, this creates unparalleled opportunities for those who want to drive change and develop buildings which offer the optimum in terms of health, wellbeing, comfort, and peace of mind.”
