Lisa Thompson: Gardai confirm witness has come forward and is helping with probe into Dublin mum's murder

A man has come forward following a garda appeal for information into the murder of Lisa Thompson in Dublin.

The mother-of-two, 52, was discovered dead in her home in Sandyhill Gardens, Ballymun at around 3.30pm on Tuesday, May 10.

Gardai were alerted to the scene after a local called Dublin Fire Brigade for an ambulance and on arrival, officers discovered the former youth worker dead in her home with 12 serious stab wounds.

An investigation into the murder is ongoing as gardai hunt Lisa's killer.

Officers had been trying to trace an unidentified man who handed in a driving licence belonging to murder victim Lisa Thompson.

Investigators believe the mystery person could be holding key information over the murder.

In an update on Wednesday, gardai confirmed that following a public appeal, a man has contacted the investigation team and this witness is currently assisting with the probe.

A spokesperson for the force said in a statement: "Gardaí at Ballymun continue to investigate the murder of Lisa Thompson, whose body was discovered on the afternoon of Tuesday, 10th May 2022 at her home in Sandyhill Gardens, Ballymun, Dublin 11.

"Today, Wednesday 18th May 2022, following the public appeal a male has contacted the investigation team and this witness is currently assisting with An Garda Síochánas investigation.

"An Garda Síochána in Ballymun wish to thank the public for all their assistance so far in this investigation and continue to appeal to any person who may have any information on the murder of Lisa Thomson, and who has not yet contacted the investigation team, to now make urgent contact at Ballymun Garda station at 01 666 4400 or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.

"No further information is available at this time."
