Lisa Nandy has pledged that Labour will introduce a new scheme to ensure that coastal and rural communities are supported.
During a speech in Darlington, Shadow levelling up secretary Lisa Nandy announced the plans during which she also vowed the Conservative leadership contest had exposed the Tories’ commitment to levelling up is “dead”.
Ms Nandy said Labour’s plans would ensure areas would be safeguarded against becoming “ghost towns” during lulls in trade during the off-season while also being supported “to reap the rewards of thriving tourism”.
