Travon Walker is heading to Detroit for a pre-draft visit. The talented Georgia defensive lineman is one of the top candidates for the Lions selection at No. 2 overall in the 2022 NFL draft, and he’ll get a chance to sell himself with the chance to possibly stay in Detroit long-term in the upcoming visit.
According to NFL.com’s Mike Garafolo, Walker will meet with the Lions soon. Walker is also meeting with all the other teams who have picks in the top six of the draft, including Jacksonville at No. 1 overall.
The Lions do have some prior interactivity with Walker. At Georgia’s pro day, Lions LB coach Kelvin Sheppard ran the linebackers workout and Walker participated despite being more of a down lineman. His impressive ability to move in space at his size was certainly eye-opening for everyone in attendance. Walker’s athletic testing performance at the NFL scouting combine draws close parallels to 2017 No. 1 overall pick, All-Pro Myles Garrett of the Browns.
The Lions are using another of their 30 pre-draft visits on Walker’s teammate, LB Nakobe Dean.
