Amani Oruwariye has gone from starting cornerback to healthy scratch for the Detroit Lions. Oruwariye headlines the inactive player list for Detroit in Week 5 against New England.
The Lions ruled out five players in Friday’s final injury report, which effectively filled up nearly all the gameday inactives on its own. WR Quintez Cephus was also ruled out, but he has since been placed on the injured reserve with his foot malady.
These players were ruled out on Friday:
WR DJ Chark
DL John Cominsky
DE Charles Harris
OT Matt Nelson
RB D’Andre Swift
That left room for just two healthy scratches. Oruwariye, currently the NFL’s worst-graded CB, and safety Juju Hughes will not play. Wide receivers Amon-Ra St. Brown and Josh Reynolds, each listed as questionable, are active.
The Patriots’ own final injury report had ruled out two defensive linemen, Lawrence Guy and DaMarcus Mitchell. Starting QB Mac Jones, who was listed as doubtful with his ankle injury, is inactive.
