Lionesses react to "Queen" Jill Scott after I'm A Celebrity triumph

England women's captain Leah Williamson is one of a host of stars to pay tribute to fellow Lioness Jill Scott after the 35-year-old was named Queen of the Jungle in I'm a Celebrity 2022.

Scott travelled to Australia on the back of a memorable year in which Sarina Wiegman's side triumphed at the Euros and secured England's first major trophy since 1966. The Sunderland native won the nation's hearts with her quick-witted one-liners and propensity to get stuck into a Bushtucker Trial.

The former Manchester City midfielder beat out Hollyoaks star Owen Warner and ex-Health Secretary Matt Hancock to claim the jungle crown, and a number of Scott's former teammates took to social media to celebrate her achievement.

Williamson, who captained Scott to Euros triumph shared a photo of the 35-year-old on her Instagram story with the caption: "Never in doubt!!!!", while fellow Arsenal star Beth Mead wrote: "Queen of the Jungle @jillscottjs8. Who else. So so proud."

Manchester City forward Lauren Hemp shared an emotional tweet about her former teammate, writing: "Honestly one of the best people you'd ever get to meet and the worlds fallen in love with you too. Always been a queen. So happy for you."

Football pundit Fara Williams, who played alongside Scott at Everton, wrote on Twitter : "Never in doubt..Queen of the jungle so proud of you @JillScottJS8 you absolutely smashed it. Glad the nation got to see the amazing person you are."

Defender Anita Asante spent more than a decade lining up alongside Scott for the Lionesses and shared a sweet message that read: "So proud of this one! A genuine lovable human that now everyone can see! Well done Queen of the jungle and our hearts."

More than 10 million people tuned in on Sunday night to watch as Ant and Dec proclaimed Scott the winner. Speaking as she received her crown, Scott said: "I can't believe it. I honestly think I'm going to owe my grandma a lot of money. These guys were absolutely incredible. I don't think there should be one winner."

The 35-year-old has established herself as a legend of the women's game, representing Everton, Manchester City and Aston Villa in the Women's Super League as well as earning more than 160 caps for the national team. She announced her retirement in August this year, almost two decades after making her senior debut for Sunderland.
