Lionel Messi's most-desired wish to win the FIFA World Cup for Argentina came true last year, and on Monday he was named the Best FIFA Men's Player for 2022, while Alexia Putellas of Spain continues to be in possession of women's award for another year.

Argentina, led by Messi, put it across France to win the World Cup in dramatic style and it was his Paris Saint-Germain French team-mate Kylian Mbappe who Messi beat to win the award in Paris.
