As if soccer fans needed another reminder of Lionel Messi’s greatness, the Inter Miami CF superstar delivered yet another sensational highlight Saturday in his MLS debut against the New York Red Bulls.
After entering the match in the 60th minute, Messi went on to score his latest goal in the 89th minute, a dazzling play that saw the 36-year-old dribble through three defenders before setting up himself for a touch pass from midfielder Benjamin Cremaschi in front of the net.
Messi’s goal, which was his 11th in nine appearances for Miami, pushed his team to a 2–0 lead and an eventual victory, giving the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner another signature win in his first regular season match a week removed from leading the club to the 2023 Leagues Cup.
