Inter Miami coach Gerardo 'Tata' Martino has expressed his admiration for Lionel Messi's unwavering desire to win, noting that it remains as strong as ever even after the Argentine superstar's move from Barcelona to Inter Miami.
Martino, who previously coached Messi at Barcelona and the Argentina national team, highlighted Messi's relentless competitive spirit and hunger for success. He emphasized that Messi's commitment to winning has been a consistent trait throughout his illustrious career.
Reflecting on his experience working with Messi, Martino stated, 'The number ones maintain throughout their entire career the way they compete and the desire to win regardless of where they play. That is a big trait of his. I'm not saying that it surprises me because this is the third spell that I have managed him.'
Martino further praised Messi's ongoing passion for achieving excellence, noting that he still sees the same level of determination in Messi as he did during their time together at Barcelona.
At 36 years old, Messi continues to set new records and add to his impressive trophy collection. Most recently, he secured his 44th trophy by helping Inter Miami claim the Leagues Cup title in August 2023.
Following his stint at Paris Saint-Germain, Messi made a high-profile move to Inter Miami in June as a free agent, bringing his exceptional talent and winning mentality to Major League Soccer.
