Lionel Messi could potentially be rested for the upcoming match between Inter Miami and CF Montreal on Sunday. The 36-year-old Argentine has played every minute of Miami's MLS matches this season and the recent Concacaf Champions League draw against Nashville SC. Assistant coach Javier Morales hinted at the possibility of giving Messi a break to prepare for the return leg against Nashville.
Morales emphasized Messi's desire to play every game but acknowledged the importance of managing his workload. Messi, who scored in the Nashville game, also suffered a knock on his shin, though it is deemed minor and not a determining factor in his potential absence on Sunday.
