Cash is set to be ploughed in to road repairs in Linwood and Houston.
Council bosses look set to invest in a dozen major roads in the area as part of a “formidable and ambitious” programme.
Renfrewshire Council will discuss the move at the authority’s Infrastructure, Land and Environment Board for 2022/23, which is due to take place on Wednesday.
The proposed move has been welcomed by SNP Councillor for Linwood, Houston and Crosslee, Audrey Doig, who said: “I am delighted to welcome the massive council investment in roads repair for the communities of Linwood and Houston in my ward.
"Especially the Clippens Road from Craigs Road to Gilmartin Road section, this is a major arterial route through Linwood with very heavy bus and car traffic as it is on a major bus route and has several schools within walking distance.

“The upgrade of the B789 Main Street in Houston from South Street to the roundabout near St Fillan’s Primary is also very welcome. This is in the heart of the conservation area of Houston and it is really important that we recognise this fact by ensuring that frequent traffic to the Fox and Hounds and Houston Inn have a smooth and safe journey.”
She added: “Many residential areas in both Linwood and Houston are also included in this list of a dozen roads in my ward, such as Cowel Drive and Cotton Avenue in Linwood, and Piper Road, Brent Crescent, Neuk Crescent and Neuk Avenue, all in the Craigends area of Houston. This is a formidable and ambitious programme for my ward and it will be well received.”
Councillor Doig, who sits on SNP controlled Renfrewshire Council, also took aim at the area’s previous Labour administration, ahead of the forthcoming May council elections, saying: “I am extremely proud of this SNP administration which has delivered these infrastructure benefits to my constituents.
"I cannot help but make comparisons with the last Labour administration, which slashed the roads repair budget and did much less, a fact which some local Labour politicians seem to want to overlook or forget.”
