Last weekend saw the return of the Linlithgow Union Canal’s fun day which was a resounding success following a three year break due to the pandemic.
Crowds flocked to the canal basin in Linlithgow to get involved in the festivities put on by the Linlithgow Union Canal Society drawing in a huge crowd of locals and people from further afield.
The winners of this years cardboard boat race were:
Peter Coleman in the Colram Cruiser - taking home the British Waterways Trophy.
Findlay Erskine in the Batmobile - who won the Reed Band Trophy
Emily Fleming in The Best & Wurst boat - winning the Low Port Centre Trophy
Val & Garry Withnell in the Lamp - claiming the Yellow Duck Trophy
And Abbie Scott-Telford in the HMS Nubian - who nabbed the Novice Paddlers Trophy.
A spokesperson for the Linlithgow Union Canal Society, Stuart Rennie, said:”I was delighted to see such huge crowds following on from the pandemic.
“It’s great to have the fun day alive again and we really appreciate the support from the local community
“We’re keen to keep going with the fun day, and reinstate it as an important date in Linlithgow’s community calendar.”
