Here’s a rundown of Lohan’s journey as the star shows she’s not slowing down anytime soon.
1998
The Parent Trap is how most people first became acquainted with Lohan. Released in 1998, the film is a remake of the 1961 classic, where Lohan plays twin sisters Annie and Hallie, separated at birth and reunited at a summer camp.
Lohan, only 12 years old at the time of filming, was praised for her dual role, capturing the distinct personalities of both characters. Her performance earned her a Young Artist Award, cementing her as a rising star in Hollywood.
The movie’s success at the box office and its enduring popularity among fans helped launch Lohan’s career, making it a defining moment in her early life.
2002
After the success of The Parent Trap, Lohan starred in two more projects that further shaped her early career.
Life-Size (2000) saw her star alongside Tyra Banks, where Lohan played a young girl who magically brings a doll to life. The Disney Channel original film became a cult favourite, showcasing Lohan’s charm and comedic timing.
Her next project, Get a Clue (2002), also for Disney Channel, paired her with Bug Hall and Brenda Song in a mystery-filled adventure. The two films helped to solidify Lohan’s early career in family-friendly entertainment.
2003
The New York native co-starred with Jamie Lee Curtis and Chad Michael Murray in the 2003 film Freaky Friday. This was possibly one of her more well-known roles.
2004
The star cemented her queen status this year, with the releases of Mean Girls and Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen.
She also released her debut album Speak the same year.
2007
Lohan found herself in the news for reasons other than her films as her fame grew. She was arrested for driving under the influence (DUI) in May 2007 and enrolled into a recovery facility.
She was then arrested for cocaine possession, driving under the influence, and driving with a suspended licence later that summer.
After pleading guilty, Lohan was placed on probation, given a one-day jail sentence, and required to perform community service and an alcohol education program.
In November 2007, she was jailed for 84 minutes.
2010
Her legal troubles worsened when the actress skipped a required hearing in 2010. She was later sentenced to 90 days in jail and 90 days of rehabilitation after a judge found that she had broken the terms of her probation.
Due to congestion, Lohan was once again released early from jail after 14 days.
2013
Lohan was sentenced to 90 days in a rehabilitation centre, 30 days of community service, and 18 months of therapy after entering a no-contest plea in March 2013 to misdemeanour charges related to her 2012 car accident.
Lohan was arrested in September 2013 after a judge imposed a 120-day jail sentence for breaking her probation for drunk driving.
The previous year she talked down her problems with addiction, saying she was not a “drug addict”.
2014
In the 2014 eight-part documentary series Lindsay, Lohan attempted to reclaim her narrative and repair her public image after years of media scrutiny. The series offered a raw, behind-the-scenes look at her life, covering her sobriety attempts, her career struggles, and her efforts to re-enter the Hollywood scene.
Despite initial criticism, the show highlighted Lohan's vulnerability and desire for a fresh start, and it provided her a platform to take control of her story in a way that had eluded her in previous years.
2016-19
In 2016, Lohan began building a chain of nightclubs in Greece.
Three years later, she was featured in Lindsay Lohan's Beach Club, a reality show about her employees at the club in Mykonos, Greece. In 2019, the programme aired on MTV for one season.
