Linda L. Bean, the granddaughter of L.L. Bean founder Leon Leonwood Bean, passed away at the age of 82. Her business manager confirmed her death on Saturday, although no cause was provided.

Known for her strong work ethic, entrepreneurial spirit, and dedication to her home state of Maine and the L.L.Bean brand, Linda Bean served on the company's board for nearly 50 years. She was instrumental in expanding the company's offerings through its popular catalogue, which included durable products like the iconic rubber-bottomed boots with a lifetime guarantee.
