Newly-single Lily James has blasted the 'rubbish' men you meet on dating apps during a candid conversation about her love life.
The Baby Driver actress, 33, described herself as 'a serial relationshiper' and admitted she doesn't really have any crazy dating stories herself, amid reports she and 37-year-old Queens of the Stone Age musician Michael Shuman have called time on their romance after two years together.
Lily - who previously dated Matt Smith and was once linked to married dad-of-five Dominic West - was speaking on Capital Breakfast with Roman Kemp regarding her latest movie, What's Love Got To Do With It?
The Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again star's character in the movie, which also stars Emma Thompson, is described as unlucky in love throughout the comedy.
"Can you relate to this, is there any, in your past when you go, I’m cringing still," Sian Welby asked Lily on-air this morning.
The Pam & Tommy actress replied: "I cringe at most things I do. Yeah I’ve been a sort of serial relationshipper, so I’ve not had any crazy dating stories however I did go on my mates’ hinge the other day and I just despaired. I mean come on!"
Pushed by host Roman about what she means, Lily went on to say: "The guys, they were rubbish. I’m sure some of the girls are c*ap too but men are worse.
"There’s a line in the film where my character is looking at this guy and he’s got a sentimental quote and she’s like 'He’s fit enough that I’ll overlook the sentimental quote' which is 'every day is a new rainbow' but that would be a bit of a turn off for me.
As Sian quipped "sentimental quotes out", Lily laughed and added: "Not on the first look at someone, a bit of banter, I sound like I’m on Love Island!"
Lily appeared to be in good spirits on the radio show this morning, amid the revelation the actress has parted ways with her musician boyfriend, Michael Shuman.
The 33-year-old actress was first linked to 37-year-old Queens of the Stone Age musician Michael Shuman on Valentine's Day back in 2021.
They sparked romance rumours after being spotted looking loved-up and sharing a kiss during a date on the most romantic day of the year - with Michael reportedly moving in to Lily’s London home just weeks later.
But it seems their love story has come to an end almost two years on from their first Valentine's Day smooth - with a source claiming the pair decided to end their relationship earlier this year after growing apart over recent months.
In October 2020, Lily and married actor Dominic West raised a few eyebrows after being pictured exploring Rome together.
When asked about what it was like to be a the centre of a possible scandal during an interview with The Guardian, Lily said: "Ach, I’m not really willing to talk about that. There is a lot to say, but not now, I’m afraid."
Following the pictures emerging in 2020, Dominic and his wife Catherine put on a united front as they posed for pictures outside their home and squashed any speculation about their marriage.
The couple's joint statement read: "Our marriage is strong and we're very much still together."
British actress Lily was previously in a relationship with the former Dr Who actor, Matt Smith, whom she met while working on Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, from 2014 to 2019.
