Lil Wayne appears to have confirmed his engagement to Madi Cannon, just months after publicly denying that he was engaged and revealing that the pair had split.
The 43-year-old rapper made the surprise revelation in a video posted to fellow Hot Boys member B.G.'s Instagram account on Monday, 28 September. Wayne was congratulating B.G. on his engagement to Brooke Jones when he appeared to disclose his own relationship status.
Wayne congratulated B.G. and joked that he would serve as the 'best man' at the upcoming wedding. He then introduced Cannon, who was visible in the video, as his 'fiancée'.
'And I'm marrying this one. This is Madison. This is my fiancée,' Wayne said.
The announcement marks a dramatic change from Wayne's comments in July, when he explicitly rejected reports that he was engaged to Cannon.
Cannon, 23, is a social media influencer from Kokomo, Indiana. Reports about a possible engagement first emerged in May, although Wayne had not publicly confirmed the relationship at the time.
Wayne Previously Said the Relationship Had Ended
On 6 July, Wayne addressed the engagement speculation during an Instagram livestream and said he and Cannon had gone their separate ways.
'No, I am not engaged. I had a beautiful thing going with an amazing person,' he said.
'But, obviously, due to the validity of the temperature of today's crazy world and culture, I considered I don't want to be such a burden on such an amazing person. So, we decided to part.'
Wayne's remarks came after weeks of speculation surrounding his relationship with Cannon. At the time, he described the relationship positively but said they had decided to end it.
His latest appearance with Cannon therefore suggests the pair have reconciled. However, neither Wayne nor Cannon has issued a separate formal announcement detailing when they became engaged or whether they have set a wedding date. PEOPLE reported that representatives for Wayne had been contacted for comment following the latest video.
The rapper has generally kept his personal life relatively private, making the sudden public reference to Cannon particularly notable.
Lil Wayne Remains Busy With Carter Anniversary Tour
The engagement revelation comes while Wayne continues his 20 Years of Carter Classics tour, celebrating more than two decades of his influential Tha Carter album series.
Live Nation announced in March that the five-time Grammy winner had extended the North American tour into 2026, with 2 Chainz joining him for most dates and The Game appearing on selected shows. The additional leg began in Bangor, Maine, on 30 June and is scheduled to conclude in Knoxville, Tennessee, on 23 October.
The tour has also generated headlines for reasons unrelated to music. Wayne missed the Bangor opening show after experiencing a severe migraine. He subsequently explained that migraines can trigger his epilepsy-related seizures and said he had been advised not to fly. The Maine concert was later rescheduled.
Despite the setbacks, Wayne has continued his run of performances while promoting his extensive Carter catalogue.
Now, his latest announcement has added another storyline to an already eventful year. After publicly saying in July that he was single and not engaged, Wayne has now referred to Cannon as his 'fiancée', signalling an apparent reconciliation and a new chapter in his personal life.
