'Life changing' programme for marginalised young people launched by Bristol community worker

A community group has launched a 'life changing' programme to give young people from marginalised communities in Bristol more opportunities. Grassroot Communities, a youth work organisation based in Bristol, has started the 'Grassroot Activators Programme' to give people in the city aged between 16 and 25 the skills they need to achieve their goals in life.

The programme is due to start in September, and its founder Ben Carpenter says this is a "life changing" chance for people from disadvantaged backgrounds to get their dream jobs. He explained to Bristol Live how the year-long course will help people.

"They could come from Southmead and they've got both parents, who give them all the love they need, but they struggle to get food on the table. And they're finding it difficult to create the pathway to opportunity that they're passionate about.
