Thousands of people with multiple sclerosis in England are set to gain access to a drug that could help some patients walk faster and for longer, marking a major shift in how one of the disease's most disabling symptoms is managed.
Fampridine, also known as Fampyra, is being rolled out through the National Health Service as the first licensed medicine specifically intended to improve walking ability in people with MS. Health officials say about 5,000 patients could be eligible for the treatment in its first year.
