Lieutenant Commander Yashasvi Solanki makes history as first woman officer from India’s Armed Forces to serve as President’s Aide-de-Camp: Who Is She?

Lieutenant Commander Yashasvi Solanki made history in May 2025 by becoming the first woman officer from the Indian Army, Navy or Air Force to be appointed Aide-de-Camp (ADC) to the President of India. Her landmark appointment at Rashtrapati Bhavan marked a significant milestone for women in the armed forces and brought renewed attention to her journey from a district-level sportsperson in Haryana to a senior ceremonial role at the highest constitutional office.

The President is traditionally assisted by five ADCs at a time—three from the Army and one each from the Navy and Air Force. For decades, these prestigious positions were held almost exclusively by men. Solanki was formally presented with the ceremonial aiguillette on May 9, 2025, marking the beginning of her tenure, which is expected to last around two and a half to three years.
