Celtic winger Liel Abada has eased fears that he could be out of action beyond the international break after claiming his quad 'feels better'.
Ange Postecoglou's young winger has been in scintillating form throughout the season with 12 goals and seven assists in just 1.832 minutes of action for the Hoops - roughly a goal contribution per game. Having made his Israel debut shorty before his big move to Glasgow, Abada has racked up a further eight capsa for his country so far.
After being called up by manager Alon Hazan for their upcoming Euro 2024 qualifiers against Kosovo and Switzerland, Celtic fans feared for the worst when it became apparent that Abada had picked up a quad injury on Monday, with initials scans indicating that he could face a long time out on the sidelines with a muscle tear. But those fears have been allayed after Abada issued a six-word statement to suggest he would be able to help the Hoops in their Treble hunt.
In response to his injury scans showing up better than before, Abada said: “I feel much better than yesterday."
Abada is now expected to face a battle to be fit for Saturday's opener against Kosovo, and if he misses that game then he could still feature in Tuesday's showdown against Switzerland. Israeli publication Sport5 issued a further update on his current situation, stating: "Before the training, good news came from the direction of Liel Abada, who stretched his quadriceps muscle last night and abandoned the training.
"The fear of a muscle tear has been removed and now the player will try to return gradually with the goal of trying to qualify him for the match against Kosovo."
The 21-year-old has been linked with a move to relegation-threatened side Southampton in recent weeks - with the Saints having been regular customers at Celtic in recent years with the signings of Virgil van Dijk, Stuart Armstrong, Victor Wanyama and Fraser Forster.
