Lidl to change milk caps after Aldi, Sainsbury's, Waitrose make 'green' swap

Lidl milk bottles will be looking similar to ones found on the shelves of other major supermarkets starting next month.

The discount supermarket is the latest chain to swap out green-coloured milk caps for more easily recyclable clear ones. The new lids on semi-skimmed and organic fresh milk are set to roll out on November 21, according to The Grocer.

The move means 60 tonnes of recycled high-density polythene can be transformed into food-grade packaging for bottles of milk, said Lidl. The retailer is making change permanent following an 'overwhelmingly positive' trial in September.
