Christmas is less than a week away - but many will still end up leaving it until the last minute to hit the supermarkets to get the best deals on their festive purchases. And now, Lidl has revealed the quietest time to shop in order to beat the queues during the Christmas rush.
Ahead of a festive shopping surge, the German supermarket has advised its customers about the optimum time to stock up on all the very best Christmas goods on offer - and the times might come as a surprise.
As the retailer anticipates a spike in shoppers in the run-up to Christmas, the inside-knowledge will help customers plan ahead and pick the best times to shop.

In the week leading up to Christmas last year, data found that the quietest times to shop at Lidl was between 8am and 10am. Most stores open at 7am, so it’s best to give it an hour to let the early birds hit the checkouts, and then venture in to do your shop.
Alternatively, if you’ve not broken up for the Christmas break and are still working 9am to 5pm, avoid going immediately after work and wait until about 6pm onwards, with the majority of stores open until 10pm.
Meanwhile the middle of the day was the busiest, with stores seeing the highest levels of footfall between 12pm and 2pm. The discounter is expecting to see a similar trend this year as customers visit their local stores to get their festive favourites and all that the Middle of Lidl has to offer.
Lidl has announced that they will close all of their stores nationwide on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day. During Christmas week, their stores will be open from 8am to 10pm, but on Christmas eve, they will close early at 6pm.

- Christmas Eve - 08.00 - 18.00
- Christmas Day - Closed
