Lidl has landed itself in hot water with shoppers who have accused the retailer of "robbing them blind" after spotting a change to one of its products.
The supermarket's Floralys quilted toilet paper is the offending item in question, with one member of the Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK group on Facebook sharing the "cheeky" discovery in their local Lidl. Although the price of the loo roll has stayed the same, Lidl has made a significant change to the product.
"Not a bargain but something to be aware of," the eagle-eyed shopper wrote in the group. "Lidl have changed the quality of their quilted toilet paper - changed from 4 ply to 3 ply but have kept the price the same."

Lidl told The Mirror in response that the product was recently reformulated to improve the quality of each individual layer. The retailer said that the new three ply offering is equal to the quality of the previous four-ply, which is why the price is the same.
A spokesperson for the supermarket said: "Our teams have been working hard to improve the quality of the individual layers in our Floralys Quilted Toilet Tissue, making them thicker and stronger than before. This means that customers are still getting a high-quality product at the same great value price."
Nevertheless, shoppers were not happy about the change, branding it "sneaky" - with many simply fed up at the state of their supermarket shop amid the cost of living crisis. "Can't believe the prices of loo paper and kitchen paper, it's all way over the top now - don't know when all this is going to end, it's all becoming extortionate," one Facebook user wrote.
Someone else added: "Everything is less than it was yet keeping the price the same or increasing the price. It’s happening on everything, has been for a while."
"We'll be back to the old cut up newspaper on a string at this rate!" another shopper said.
