Lidl US has recalled one lot of Vitasia Chinese Style brand Asian Style Wok Spice Mix from every store in nine states and Washington, D.C., after the company's own routine quality testing found Salmonella in a laboratory sample. No illnesses have been reported.
The recall is small, and the identification is precise enough that most households can settle the question in under a minute. It is also a useful reminder about where recalled food actually sits in a home. When a recall is announced, most people open the refrigerator. A dried spice blend with a best-by date nearly two years out will not be there. It will be in a cabinet, unopened, waiting for the next stir-fry.
