Lidl and Asda shoppers hail £49 dehumidifier that banishes mould and condensation

A £49 dehumidifier has been described as "perfect" for helping to prevent condensation and mould in homes.

A number of shoppers have said the Russell Hobbs compact dehumidifier is proving useful for them. According to the product description, it "is the ideal tool for reducing humidity and minimising the physical signs of damp and condensation in your home office, utility room, or small living space".

It includes an easy to empty water tank and has a maximum extraction rate of up to 300ml per day. It’s simple to operate and features a low noise motor to ensure minimal disturbance while in use.

It also has an auto cut-off function when the tank is full, meaning it is suitable for operation during long periods of time without needing to be monitored. The dehumidifier recently hit the middle of Lidl so shoppers can pick up the product from their local store that they can find here.

And Asda shoppers have been praising it and calling it "perfect", reports Birmingham Live. One shopper said: "I am very pleased with this dehumidifier . I brought this for my bedroom, as have bad condensation on the windows.

"I only use it during the night, but it works well. It does fill up quickly and I am emptying every two days . The humidity is now between 65% and 75%, it was at 88%."

Another customer said: "I purchased this as I was getting condensation in a small bedroom. It is certainly helping with the problem capturing about four tablespoons of water a day. It is fairly quiet to run and is small and quite smart to look at. The only thing I would say is that it is quite difficult to open to get rid of the water."

And a third shopper added: "This will not match a compressor dehumidifier but the purpose it was bought for was to stop water and mould from building up on a bedroom window sill. For that it works fine.

"It collects around half a litre a week (two empties). I had no expectations that it would come close to the advertised 600ml per day, but it does the job."
