Lidl, Aldi and Iceland urgently recall product amid health and safety concerns

Supermarket giants Lidl and Aldi are amongst a number of stores urgently recalling certain items.

Following a warning from the Food Standards Agency, the stores have urged any shoppers who may have bought the products to return them. The products are said to have been contaminated and are therefore not safe to eat.

The items include rice and cheese, with customers being asked to bring the items back to where they bought them in exchange for a full refund, reports Cambridgeshire Live.

So, it may be worth checking you fridges, freezers and cupboards for the following items.

Iceland Takeaway Pilau Rice

Iceland are recalling their own brand 'Takeaway Pilau Rice' due to the products being labelled incorrectly. The rice contains egg, sesame, soya and wheat - which are not mentioned on the label. The products has been incorrectly packed with egg fried rice, meaning that it posses a potential health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to the items not listed.

AERO Hot Chocolate products

Customers are also being urged to look out for AERO Hot Chocolate products, with the items being recalled. A small number of packets may contain food-grade silica beads, which are unsafe to eat.

The items to look out for include AERO Hot Chocolate jars, sachets, and AERO Go Instant Hot Chocolate. Point of sale notices will be displayed in all retail stores that are selling this product.

Lidl Simply Grated Cheddar

Lidl are recalling their cheese product - Simply Grated Cheddar. The cheese packages may contain small piece of plastic, making it unsafe to eat.

The supermarket advises "If you have bought the above product do not eat it. Instead, return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund."
