Liam Smith defeats Chris Eubank Jr with stunning knockout as Anfield dream could be next

Liam Smith produced the performance of his career to sensationally knock out Chris Eubank Jr.

After months of verbal exchanges, the two finally got it on at the AO Arena in Manchester. And a sell-out crowd inside was treated to a masterclass by Smith, who asserted from the outset.

Smith started the much more aggressive man and was constantly on the front foot from the off.

He landed a number of great shots in the opening two rounds before being forced to defend a flurry of combinations from Eubank Jr, who likely took the third.

But in round four, Smith showed the crowd why he is a former world champion - knocking Eubank Jr down once before finishing the fight seconds later.

A right-hand to head and a left uppercut sent Eubank Jr to the canvas and although he got up at eight on the count, he looked more than dazed.

And it was no surprise when another flurry of shots to the head eventually lead to the referee waving the fight off.

Speaking after victory, Smith said: "This ranks at the very top. Everything about tonight. Doing what nobody has done. If Chris wants a rematch - by all means. But the rematch is on my terms."

Those terms may well bring the pair back together - at the home of Liverpool Football Club. Eubank Jr added after the fight: "The build-up got a bit ugly in the end. I regretted that. If the fans want to see a rematch, we can get it on in Anfield."
