Liam Scales is said to have been one of four members of the Republic of Ireland squad to support Gavin Bazunu's decision to refuse to play against Israel.
The Celtic central defender was caught up in the controversy this weekend as the FAI held meetings with the playing staff before the Nations League tie.
Heimir Hallgrimsson’s side are scheduled to face Israel twice in the space of a week and goalkeeper Bazunu opted to withdraw from selection, a decision which brought about widespread controversy.
According to the 42.ie, Bazunu's decision was questioned by some teammates while "tensions and tempers" rose.
But 28-year-old centre-back Scales was named in the same report as one of the players who "provided support and understanding" for the Bolton Wanderers stopper.
He joined Troy Parrott and Jack Moylan in that group.
The two games to come were voted on by the Irish squad and the majority opted to fulfil the fixture. It remains, according to the 42, up in the air as to whether the vote came down to a 14/8 or 15/7 majority.
The FAI halted their media duties in the aftermath of the chaos following a cancelled press conference.
