Liam Rosenior says Chelsea will make a late call on whether Cole Palmer, Reece James and Malo Gusto face Arsenal in the first leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final on Wednesday.

Palmer, James and Gusto all missed Saturday’s 5-1 FA Cup win at Charlton and Chelsea are managing their minutes.

Speaking on Monday, Rosenior said: “I’ll make a decision on Cole, Reece and Malo tomorrow. They’re being managed.

“It was a good time for them to rest in the FA Cup game. There’s no point taking risks when you feel you can win the game [without them].”

Moises Caicedo is suspended but Chelsea have no fresh injury concerns ahead of the Arsenal game.

“Obviously Moi is suspended,” said Rosenior. “He was marvellous the other night. We had no injury problems coming out of Charlton game, which was a really good thing.”

Rosenior revealed after the Charlton game that Palmer, James and Gusto were left out at the Valley as a precaution.

Speaking after that match, Rosenior said: “Malo, Cole and Reece were precautionary. I don't want to take any risks at this stage of the season.

“They had minor tweaks or knocks from the Fulham game. And I feel like I've got such a good squad here, I don't need to risk their health at the moment.

“We have a huge game on Wednesday [against Arsenal in the Carabao Cup semi-final first leg]. We have a huge game on Saturday [against Brentford]. And I'll check the medical reports tonight and tomorrow morning and see how they are then.”
