Liam Neeson looks set to star in a reboot of the comedy classic The Naked Gun.
The iconic Irish actor, 70, is described as being ‘in negotiations’ to step into the brogues of the late Leslie Nielsen in a remake of the police spoof favourite.
The Lonely Island member Akiva Schaffer is set to direct and executive produce the project for Paramount Pictures, US publication Deadline added in the report.

Rumours that the Taken star was attached to the series began when he told the People TV show that he was in talks with Family Guy creator and star Seth Macfarlane, who will produce the film.
Liam said that while nothing is currently set in stone yet, he has his reservations about taking on the role for fear of what it could do to his acting career.
“I’ve been approached by Seth MacFarlane and Paramount Studios to maybe resurrect the Naked Gun films.
“It’ll either finish my career or bring it in another direction. I honestly don’t know,” he said.
The original Naked Gun trilogy was created by David Zucker, Jim Abrahams and Jerry Zucker, starring Nielsen as Lieutenant Frank Drebin.
Dan Gregor and Doug Mand, who just worked with Schaffer on the Emmy-winning Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers pic, also reported to have closed a deal to pen the script this time around.
Plot details are reportedly being kept under wraps but it is believed that Neeson might be playing the son of Detective Frank Drebin instead of stepping into the role as a remake.
