Liam Gallagher is to play a one-off charity show at the King George’s Hall in Blackburn. The gig happens on April 27, and is aiming to raise funds for local Blackburn homeless charity Nightsafe.
Tickets for the show will be allocated by ballot, with applications going on from today (details are below). Should you be able to nab one, you’ll be asked to pay £20 in a donation to the charity.
The show is also being put on in collaboration with Adidas, with a brand new Liam Gallagher edition of the famous Spezial trainer, the LG2SPZL, being released. The show is going on in Blackburn too thanks to Adidas designer Gary Aspden, the man behind the iconic Spezial - who happens to be from nearby Darwen.
Gary said: “I could not be happier that Adidas agreed to support this event in east Lancashire and am super made up that Liam has agreed to come and perform here. He has never performed in Blackburn before and given how the roots of Spezial are connected to the town it feels like an appropriate location to announce the forthcoming LG2SPZL trainer collaboration.
“This should bring some great energy and positivity to Blackburn and will hopefully give Nightsafe a much needed boost after what have been a difficult few years for everyone.”
Jan Larkin, CEO of Nightsafe, added: “We are incredibly touched at the generosity of Liam, Gary and the adidas team for holding the concert. The gig will be a fantastic night and it will raise life-changing funds for countless young people facing tremendously difficult times.”
Blackburn band The Illicits will be in the support slot, who - like Oasis - were signed by iconic manager Alan McGee. The King George’s, meanwhile, has a storied history, having hosted the likes of The Beatles, David Bowie, The Clash and The Stone Roses.
To be in with a chance of grabbing at ticket for the show, you’ll need to enter the ballot by downloading the Adidas Confirmed app on your smartphone. It comes ahead of the release of Gallagher's third solo album on May 27, and also ahead of his upcoming stadium tour this summer.
He plays the Etihad on June 1.
