Liam Gallagher reveals 4am wake up time and surprisingly healthy breakfast choice as face of Stone Island

What advice would Liam Gallagher give his younger self? As he becomes the new face of Stone Island, the outerwear brand recognised for its button-on, rectangular compass labels, one-half of Oasis reflects: “Life's been great. It's had its ups and downs. But at the end of the day, you are playing it.”

Gallagher, who will have shot the campaign before the announcement he and brother Noel had set aside their differences to reunite Oasis next summer, joins a “community” cast of well-known faces for the brand, including DJ and producer Peggy Gou, actor and curator Russell Tovey, and musician and skateboarder Sage Elsesser.

The flashy launch follows a summer of right-wing protests in Britain which saw a number of Stone Island jackets pictured on rioters. This new push marks a welcome polishing of the 1980-founded brand’s image, which has remained beloved in fashion circles — not least proven by the brand’s collaboration with Dior in May.

The September campaign shots – Gallagher is seen wearing an archive, 1993/1994 cream ‘Jock’ jacket — come with questions Stone Island refers to as “original research” they have “commissioned.”

In a Q&A, the singer reveals he is an extremely early riser, as well as his healthy go-to breakfast of choice. “I get up at four or five in the morning. Then I’m just waiting for something f**king spectacular to happen,” he says. “I have porridge for breakfast, then if I'm feeling really rock 'n' roll I'll have some almonds on it and a bit of honey.”

He also made comments on his tendency to look back. Asked “classic or modern or both?” he replied, “all this new stuff doesn't do it for me. It all stems from the past, which is classic.”

It also marks a continuation of Gallagher’s relationship with the brand which, prior to becoming it’s face, peaked in 2017 when he tweeted: “To the c**t who stole my Stone Island parkas from my hotel room while I was playing Glastonbury hand them over all will be forgiven.” He won’t be looking back in anger, though: there’s no doubt they will have been replaced now.
