Liam Brady disagrees with Roy Keane about Argentina live on RTE

Liam Brady and Roy Keane had a difference of opinions when it came to Argentina ahead of their semi-final against Croatia.

Argentina qualified after beating the Netherlands in an ill tempered affair and the Copa America winners came in for heavy criticism.

The side were charged by FIFA after the game and some 18 yellow cards were dished out in the game.

Roy Keane however was willing to cut Argentina some slack.

He said on ITV ahead of Argentina's semi-final clash with Croatia: "I didn't like to see that, but what we have to say, we criticised them after the first game when they got beaten, saying they didn't show enough fight so we can't now criticise them for that because that is fight. We don't like to see it but they showed that.

"They're desperate to win and when you play top level football, you do stuff on the pitch, you look back and think 'maybe I shouldn't' have done it', but when you're that desperate to win, I don't think you can be too critical."

But Liam Brady was not happy with Argentina.

Speaking on RTE, he said: "They remind me of Atletico Madrid after the past few years in the Champions League who would resort to all sorts.

"And (Diego) Simeone I don't think it's any coincidence he's Argentinian as well. They're not for me if Messi wasn't there. I'd prefer Croatia to go on."
