Lexington to host household hazardous waste disposal event

The city of Lexington is hosting a disposal event for hazardous household items this Saturday.

Hazardous materials include paint, cleaners, oils, batteries, pesticides and electronic waste. The city is putting on the event to help properly dispose of those items, free of charge.

Those materials can pollute the ground, air or water or if not disposed of properly, and can be dangerous to health.

The city says materials should be loaded in boxes and stored in a car’s backseat, trunk or trunk bed. Electronics should be stored separately from the rest of household waste. An online survey should also be filled out before arriving.

The event begins at 8:30 and will run until 3 p.m. at 1631 Old Frankfort Pike, accessed by Jimmie Campbell Drive.

The online survey and more information on accepted items are available here.
