Disgraced businessman Alexander Greensill – Lex to you and me – has had some problems working with vegetables of late. No, not lobbying MPs – I mean the crop-growing business he runs.
The Mail reported last year he was involved in a “bitter planning dispute” over the “eco farm” in his enormous 500-acre Cheshire estate, battling with Cheshire West and Chester Council over plans to plant a mixture of crops including broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage and kale.
The farming company, called Shotwick Park Estate Limited, is the last remaining British entity of which he is a director – all the others have gone into liquidation.
But he may even soon be stripped of his title as its CFO (chief fertiliser officer) amid reports the Insolvency Service wants to have him disqualified from running or controlling companies for a period of up to 15 years.
Perhaps the eco-life is not for him. I'm sure something else will crop up.
