Lewis Miller hoping for Hibs kick-start after Celtic display as he details 'tough season' to date

Lewis Miller is hoping to kick start his Hibs career after a positive showing in his first league start against Celtic at Parkhead.

He slotted in at right-wing back as Lee Johnson's men lost out 3-1 after a brave performance in Glasgow. The visitors were reduced to ten-men after Elie Youan was dismissed with less than 25 minutes on the clock but they did take a shock lead when Josh Campbell beat Joe Hart from 12-yards to put the capital club ahead at the break.

However, Ange Postecoglou's men hit back quickly in the first period with a penalty of their own through Jota before substitute combo Oh and Sead Haksabanovic netted two late goals to hand the champions all three points and re-establish their nine point lead over Rangers. For Hibs, the race for the top six and Europe is still firmly on with four big games to be played before the top and bottom half are determined.

Miller - who will hope he has done enough at Celtic to keep his place and have a major say on those games - has opened up on what he describes as a 'tough season' personally to date as he looks to kick start his career in Leith from here on in.

He told Hibs' official website: “It has been a tough season for me personally, I was injured for a very long time at the start of the season and [Chris] Cadden has been playing really well at right-back.

“Luckily the gaffer gave me an opportunity today to play and I just went out and gave it all I had. Hopefully, today’s performance showed the gaffer that he can trust me and that I can kick on from here.

“We want to finish in those European places; that is still the aim. We will take it one game at a time and our focus is now on getting three points against Motherwell.”

On the match itsself, he added: “Under the circumstances and how the game panned out, I thought we did quite well. Obviously, we didn’t get the result we wanted but the camaraderie the boys showed and the way we played was very positive.

“When we went down to 10-men we all rallied around each other. We put 100% effort in, got together as a unit and fought off a good Celtic side for a long period of time. It was unfortunate that we became undone by two set-pieces in the end."
