Jim Goodwin admits Lewis Ferguson ’s Aberdeen future remains uncertain – but he’s getting closer to unleashing new recruits Yiber Ramadani and Bojan Miovski.
Ferguson has yet to appear in pre-season with the Dons bouncing £2m bids for the midfielder from Serie A Lecce and Millwall. The 22-year-old picked up a knock on Scotland duty, so will miss the start of the Premier Sports Cup campaign against Peterhead on Sunday.
But striker Ramadani is finally due to check in on Monday with Miovski not far behind after the moves were held up by Brexit red tape as the Aberdeen rebuild ramps up. Goodwin said: “With Lewis we are well aware of the speculation. I don’t want to pull the wool over anybody’s eyes or anything. He took a bad knock in one of those games for Scotland and we have just been trying to protect him and make sure we don’t ask too much of him too early on. It’s as simple as that really. We have also had some great news back today with regards to Ylber.
“There’s a bit of patience required which is something I’m not awfully good at to be honest and neither are the players. Ramadani and Miovski want to get in here and get to know their team-mates as soon as possible.
“I would like to think Miovski will be a lot quicker than the Ramadani one. I’m hopeful, best case probably 10 days, worst case, two weeks. I hope. So we are satisfied with what we have done up until now, but there is still a little bit of work to do.”
