West Lothian’s Lewis Capaldi has signed a seven-figure deal with Netflix for a tell-all TV documentary.
Along with his funny TikToks, the 26-year-old from Bathgate has been recording content for the film for the past seven years and the streaming giant has now paid to officially commission it.
Lewis missed out on a Brit Award at the weekend for best song, losing to Harry Styles.
He’s set to release his second album in May while on his world tour and the film is expected to follow him as he works on his hit debut album Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent.
It also will give a glimpse into him putting together the follow-up album broken By Desire to Be Heavenly Sent which features his hits Pointless and Forget Me.
A source told the Scottish Sun: “This documentary has been a labour of love and the outcome is a really eye-opening picture of who Lewis is.
“It shows his funny side but also much more personal elements.
“It has been made by director Joe Pearlman, who was behind the infamous 2018 documentary Bros: After The Screaming Stops.
“Netflix is really impressed by what has been made and they have forked out a massive sum to have it exclusively.
“The hope is it will be out this year.”
Son of a fishmonger, Lewis has gone on to bag two Brit Awards and four No1 singles.
But the singer has admitted that the journey hasn’t been easy, with fame taking its toll by causing extreme anxiety which exacerbated his Tourette’s syndrome.
The Pointless singer has be praised for speaking out about his Tourettes after fans noticed his tic on stage.
Lewis said of the documentary: “If the immense pressure of writing and recording a second album — that has to live up to the expectations of so many people I’ve never met while also attempting to eclipse the commercial success of my previous album — wasn’t enough, I decided to film the process in its entirety for your viewing pleasure.”
