Lewis Capaldi tells fans he's too 'lazy' to bring out a new album at Latitude festival

West Lothian’s Lewis Capaldi took to the stage at the Latitude Festival with a message for fans - he’s been too lazy to write a new album!

Two songs into headline set - delayed for two years due to the pandemic - the East Whitburn star said: “I just want to say now, I have no new music to play you.

“I rescheduled a lot of shows last year because I was like, ‘guys, I need to finish my new album’.

“And I was supposed to do it, but I am horribly lazy.

“So we’re just going to play you all of the old stuff.

The BBC reported the crowd at last week’s event responded with raucous cheers, to which he replied: “I’m glad you enjoy it, because it’s all we’ve got.”

The singer was originally due to headline the Suffolk-based festival Latitude two years ago after bagging a Brit Award for his debut album, Divinely Uninspired To A Hellish Extent.

But even after 24 months out the limelight, he still drew the biggest crowd of the festival’s opening day and said: “Thanks for coming back in this many numbers.

“I always get the feeling people have forgotten us.”
