West Lothian sensation Lewis Capaldi took the breath away of passengers on a flight from London to Los Angeles by serving them drinks and snacks before an impromptu performance of his new single.
The British music star wowed those on the flight by performing the role of a British Airways cabin crew as he served up refreshments to star-struck flyers, this included four superfans who were sneakily invited on board beforehand.
However, it is very unlikely that the Whitburn lad will give up his day job singing love tunes as he could be overheard asking a passenger whether he could have one of their Pringles as he was feeling "absolutely ravenous".
The 26-year-old, who has recently launched his new Netflix documentary at a premier in Scotland, ‘How I’m Feeling Now’, declared: "I feel like I'm not doing anything. Just standing and looking pretty." He added: "I'm going to sing a song now, I apologise everybody. Someone's sleeping."
Brandishing his guitar on the flight, Capaldi performed his new single Wish You The Best at 35,000ft, to the surprise of onlooking passengers. He then serenaded guests with a snippet of the unreleased track that will feature on his highly anticipated second album, Broken By Desire To Be Heavenly Sent, due to hit shelves in May, the Daily Record reports.
After performing his new single, Lewis said over the applause: "I'm sorry for disturbing your flight. If anyone is not aware, my name is Ed Sheeran."
Rowan and Georgie Gupwell, sisters and superfans of Lewis Capaldi from Glasgow, said: “This was the most amazing surprise. We’ve been huge fans of Lewis since Bruises in 2017.
“We have tickets to see him live later this year, so to meet him up close yesterday was a moment we’ll cherish forever, and we can’t wait to see the new song live again in concert!”
Nicola Barker, British Airways colleague and superfan of Lewis, added: “What a ‘pinch-me’ moment it was to watch Lewis perform with his guitar during the flight - not only did he sing, he served me a great a G&T too!”
Lewis shared the video from his surprise appearance on the flight to Instagram, leaving fans pointing out one fatal error with his performance. "Not enough air hostess uniform imo," said one fan.
Another added: "WHERE IS THE FLIGHT ATTENDANT UNIFORM LEWIS," while a third agreed: "This is incredible, would’ve been even better if you wore the whole air hostess attire."
The Scots singer recently told fans that they should buy Ed Sheeran's album instead of his own during an appearance on This Morning. Lewis chatted to hosts Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary and left the pair in stitches with his self deprecating jibes at his career.
Alison asked the Someone You Loved singer how he would promote his new album to the viewers, and Lewis' response did not disappoint ITV viewers. He quipped: "Is there a camera I can look into? Don't waste your time. It's a complete and utter joke that I've been allowed to make a second one.
If anything, and I didn't think this was possible - I've gotten worse! So don't bother yourself with it. Go buy Ed Sheeran's latest offering instead."
Lewis Capaldi's Netflix documentary How I'm Feeling Now will be available to stream on Netflix on April 5, 2023.
