Lewis Capaldi delighted fans when he surprised them during a concert with new music after three years.
During his sold-out show on Friday at London's O2 arena, the hitmaker, 25, debuted his new single Forget Me, and confided he was "nervous" about playing it.
The Before You Go singer then played a clip of the single to the arena whilst live on TikTok.
Lewis' debut album Divinely Uninspired To A Hellish Extent was the best selling album in the UK in 2019 and 2020.
His debut record was in the UK top ten for 36 weeks and had ten weeks at No1.
Last year, the musician postponed all of his live shows to focus on his new album.
During his second night at the O2, Lewis told fans: "I said at the start of the show it's been a while since I released new music, a very long time, three years in fact, but thankfully on 9 September that changes.
"Next week I release my first single from this next album. It's called Forget Me, so that's good news. As well as that, I am going to play that song for everybody here tonight.
"I am showing 20,000 people my song for the first time. I'm very nervous.
"No one has heard any of this music apart from you all here tonight."
The BBC reported that when Lewis headlined Latitude Festival this summer, he said: "I rescheduled a lot of shows last year because I was like, 'Guys, I need to finish my new album. And I was supposed to do it, but I am horribly lazy."
He then explained: "So we're just going to play you all of the old stuff."
In December, it was reported that Lewis had hired Adele's songwriter for his second album.
He had reportedly hired Ryan Tedder, former frontman of OneRepublic, who has written Rumour Has It for Adele and Halo for Beyonce.
Speaking about the album Ryan told The Sun "I was playing the songs an hour ago in the car and it’s just like, goosebumps!
"The guy could sing a random song in Spanish and it would still give me goosebumps. He’s so good."
Lewis’s 2018 single Someone You Loved broke UK chart records when it was in the top ten for longer than any other British act in history.
Speaking about his success Lewis told The Mirror: "That will never happen again in my career, I can tell you that now.
"I don’t deserve to have a No1 for seven weeks – no one deserves to have a No1 for seven weeks. It’s an anomaly.
"When a song does that, it’s so much bigger than you. I felt it was happening to someone else and I was just watching.
"I just happened to look like him and have the same small penis and all the same ailments. I just remember it feeling so surreal."
