Lewis Capaldi's 'best Glasgow gig' was TRNSMT as singer admits crying on stage

During an intimate gig last night, Lewis Capaldi revealed that he cried on stage during his first TRNSMT appearance.

Sitting down with fans during his first round of Q&A and acoustic session last night (May 21) at Glasgow's iconic SWG3 venue, the Glasgow-born music sensation said that his favourite gig in the city was TRNSMT.

And with the annual Glasgow Green festival soon approaching, Lewis recalled that he cried on stage thinking it was going to go wrong - but it was in fact the opposite.

Having been asked about his best gig in Glasgow, the singer said: "Best gig in Glasgow is probably when we headlined TRNSMT.

"That was amazing."

He added: "I remember being nervous, very nervous. I remember being scared. I was in the throws on my anxiety at the time and I was really worried I was gonna have a panic attack on stage. I thought I was gonna go on and ruin the whole thing.

"I did not. It was just the best experience ever and I started singing 'Grace' which is the first song of my set at the time and I started crying."

The Glasgow crowd shouted "aw" as they supported the singer with people shouting that they were at that gig and he was "fantastic" with Lewis thanking people for their kind words.

He went onto explain: "I was just like oh I don't know if I'm every going to be able to do this. TRNSMT was the real test of my nerves in terms of my mental health and stuff.

"I really didn't want to f*** up my experience at doing this amazing thing that I have always wanted to do because TRNSMT, T-in the Park sorta thing. But I didn't [ruin it] and I started to tear up."

He quickly joked: "But then I f****** wiped them away and I got on with the p**** jokes and that was it."

The night was a success with Lewis telling the crowd that just that afternoon before he came in stage, he was told his second album released just days ago, Broken by Desire to Be Heavenly Sent, would likely reach number one.
