Lewis Capaldi might be worth £10million but he still likes watching the pennies. The Forget Me Not hitmaker is fuming that his favourite chocolate bar has almost tripled in price over the years.
Singer-songwriter Lewis was venting after discovering a Cadbury’s Freddo, which once cost 10p, now sets him back 25p. The 26-year-old said: “There’s a cost-of-living crisis. Remember when Freddos were 10p? I want Freddos to be 10p again. Bloody Tories.”
Lewis is predicted to double his fortune this year with a new album and world tour which kicked off last week. And although his UK tour sold out in minutes, the singer from Whitburn, West Lothian, who is renovating a £1.6million farmhouse near Glasgow, still worries about paying the bills.
He said: “I have a mortgage to pay for, which is crippling. If this goes t*ts up, I’m f***ed.” Lewis bought the house after pal Ed Sheeran found it online.
The singer called the house a money pit and said he wanted Ed to buy it back off him. Meawnhile, friendly Lewis delighted workers at a chippy in North Shields near Newcastle after he popped in for his dinner – large haddock and chips followed up by ice cream – on Friday night.
Lewis was in the area ahead of his gig at the Utilita Arena in Newcastle last night. He heads to Aberdeen tomorrow and Glasgow on Tuesday.
