Lewis Capaldi left presenters on BBC Breakfast red-faced with embarrassment after after making a rude comment during a live interview, which he later called a "breakdown in communication".
The Scots singer was live on air with Naga Munchetty and Charlie Stayt on Saturday morning to discuss his latest single Forget Me.
Towards the end of the interview Lewis left the pair shocked after mishearing Naga. The 25-year-old commented to Charlie that he has "great hair" - with the compliment returned by the presenter.
Naga then asked the pair: "Would you like a room?". Apparently not hearing her properly, the Glaswegian then tells her he thought she used an x-rated term, saying: "I thought you said 'rim'."
The presenters were left shocked and laughing, with Naga swiftly ending the interview, adding: "We're going to have a little word with Lewis."
Twitter users commented on the incident, with one saying: "It was such a brilliant interview, thanks for that start to Saturday!"
Another said: "I've just had to explain what that is to my Mum on her 76th birthday cos I was laughing too hard at this she wanted to see the clip... It's not the gift I wanted to give her!"
A third added: "So funny this morning! After the past few weeks, that's exactly what was needed."
Lewis Capaldi became one of the most famous singers in the UK with his smash hit song Somebody You Loved, which was the highest selling single in the UK in 2019.
He clinched his third UK Number 1 with his latest song Forget Me earlier this month.
