Lewis Capaldi has been left 'in pieces' as he was sent footage of his fans gathering outside where his gig was supposed to be held before he cancelled it due to illness.
The Forget Me singer was diagnosed with bronchitis last week and was left with no choice but to postpone the rest of his European tour, and last night fans gathered outside the venue in Madrid to sing his songs together.
Footage posted by the singer shows a crowd gathered with a microphone singing his tune 'Someone You Loved', Lewis was clearly touched by this and wrote: "Aw Madrid this is literally unreal, loads of you turned up despite the show not going ahead to sing outside am in bits. Madrid this has me in pieces. Love u all so much."
In a video prior to that despite not being able to play his Barcelona gig after only finding out at the sound check, Lewis went out to greet fans who had gathered and they also sang 'Before You Go', leaving him lost for words and clearly emotional.
Lewis was absolutely devastated to have to cancel the remaining gigs and took to his social media to tell fans the news.
In a video posted to Twitter, he told fans how sorry he was, saying: "Unfortunately we're going to have to reschedule the remaining shows on my European tour - that means Barcelona tonight, Madrid tomorrow, and Stuttgart and Munich next week."
He explained how he was sent home to Glasgow after being diagnosed with bronchitis on Monday, March 6, and postponed his shows in Zurich and Milan.
Lewis continued: "I went to another doctor in Glasgow and got medication and inhalers to try and help with the bronchitis, and I do feel a bit better, and I thought I was going to be ready for the show so I've flown out to Barcelona, I'm backstage just now.
"During soundcheck, my voice was just giving in. So unfortunately, to prevent further damage, I've spoke with a doctor here and I'm going to have to just take a week to let this die down and heal properly rather than doing any permanent damage to my voice."
He apologised for having to cancel the gigs, "especially tonight in Barcelona since it's so close to the show", and said he wanted to give the update himself "so you know it's coming from me and not someone on management."
The singer concluded: "I'm so, so f***ing sorry and hopefully I'll see you all very soon. Again, very sorry, we'll get the rescheduled dates sorted as soon as possible."
